How many distinct catalogue numbers are on the shelves in each block of one hundred. The publisher numbers its releases in order, so the early blocks are the older releases.

Each shelf was photographed, and every spine was read and written down: the title, the catalogue number printed on it, and which shelf it sits on.
Every catalogue number was checked against the publisher's published list. Where the two disagreed, the entry was corrected and the first reading noted. Where a number couldn't be confirmed, the entry says so, and a handful are still open.
Each entry has a place for the owner's own notes: what a film meant to them, where it came from, who it was bought for. Those notes are the part only the owner can supply.
The photographs of these shelves were read with the help of a cloud AI service. In a client's catalogue, anything drawn from the client's own record is read on systems under the practice's control, or by hand; it is never sent to a cloud AI service.
The synopses here marked as placeholders were drafted by AI, to show where reference text would sit. A client's catalogue would use a licensed reference work, credited, or text written by the person making the catalogue. No passage in anything delivered to a family is drafted by a text generator.
What this example is meant to show is the rest: every entry checked against an authoritative list, with what the checking found written down; the whole arranged so anyone can search it; and room on every entry for the owner's own words.
